#139 - Caiman
CAIMAN
Name: Caiman
Aliases: Silent Gator, Loyal Croc
Sphere: Black Sea
Tier: Regular
Picture:
- Spoiler:
Abilities: The Caiman is a standard heavy troop, amphibious much like the Deep Hellion, that belongs inherently to the Black Sea. A bipedal, crocodilian, armoured soldier, it can swim with ease through the murky waters and move with the gait of a weighty man with its hulking 8-foot frame. Its natural hide is tempered and able to resist small arms fire; but compounded with a steel breastplate especially designed to withstand the extreme pressures of the Black Sea's depths, they provide an adequate heavy troop.
Armed with only their claws, the obedient Caimans listen only to the chiefs of their regiments. Often dispatched aside a few of the Sea's lesser troops, or with a Hellion to direct them (Hellion-Caiman partnerships one-to-one are not uncommon) the Caimans are the Black Sea's titans. Physically imposing and highly resilient, the phrase "Tough as a Caiman" is a common one around the reef. Though able to comprehend language and complex orders with each, they seemingly cannot fathom speech to respond - only able to communicate through limited sign language and growling which only their fellow Caimans can translate.
Feral Caimans are few and far between; from birth they seem to obey only Leviathan and her subordinates, as if it's something drilled into them. As oddly obedient as these monsters are, however, in battle, their fearsome roars and powerful charges are known for being second only to sharp talons which can eviscerate even a hardy Demon's hide, tearing it to ribbons in a matter of seconds. They, however, cannot wield weaponry - skilled, anyway - and seem to be unable to fathom new attack patterns, which makes their use, whilst effective, only so in certain scenarios. The Caimans are not stealthy and useless in a field of ranged combat, though useful when marching on a battlefield.
Additionally, they possess an inherent weakness to any charged electrical energy. Their armour and natural hide tends to negate most water, fire, and ice attacks however.
Miscellaneous Notes: - Caimans, much like Hellions, can sometimes being found accompanying or mounting Snapsharks underwater as war steeds.
- Often makes a noise not dissimilar from a squawk combined with a growl then run through some distortion device when in pain. It's both unsettling and eerily humorous.
