STAFF APPLICATIONS
At periods during Deus Mortuus' uptime, we may find ourselves short-staffed; staff members inevitably do come and go, and at times you may find positions open. If you feel you wish to contribute to the Deus Mortuus community, and can uphold the responsibility of one of our staff positions, there is a template within to apply, where the existing staff will consider your request. We only ask that you do this tactfully - please do not apply for staff if you are not relatively sure of your ability to remain active on the forum for the near and distant future. Currently we are only accepting applications for Beastmaster, Billposter, and Librarian positions.

BESTIARY
Got an idea for a new breed of demon you'd like to fight or have fought? Perhaps it's a type of angel instead? Or the demon species that inhabits your Ritualist character? First off: it's best to check here just in case, and second, if not, apply to have it filed and registered in the bestiary! It won't take too long - just a brief description of its abilities and possibly an image.

PLOT EVENTS
Here the staff-organised plot events - and a suggestions/ideas sub-forum for discussing them - will be announced for sign-up so you can join in. These will be regular and usually concern small groups of anywhere from 3-7 people, but occasionally (around twice or three times a year) the staff will organise a larger mission concerning almost the whole userbase to encourage further inter-character interactions and driving on the plot.

PLAYER EVENTS
Plot events are organised by the staff, but if you'd like to organise lesser events wherein you can establish a point reward for all players (and yourself), take on a game master or controlling role, and generally sort a player-controlled and staff-independent thread with set goals that sells as a mission-type thing, then feel free to establish them here. The templates and guidelines are within.

IRKUTSK
Irkutsk is a major city in Russia with a population of over half a million and one of the largest cities in the area of Siberia. As one would imagine, it's bitterly cold, especially in wintery months, and though filled with tourist attractions, usually not advisable to travel to unless you're prepared for the temperature extremes.

JOHANNESBURG
Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa. In the modern day it's renowned for - in spite of its apparent cleanliness and status as one of the most prestigious cities in the entire continent - a considerably high crime ratio, though it's still a very nice city. Colloquially known as Jozi and Jo'burg amongst other less favourable nicknames.

ROME
Known natively as Roma and the capital of Italy, once the origin of the greatest ancient empire to ever brace the face of this earth, Rome is barely a shadow of what it once was, through ancient history and even on into the Renaissance, but it's truly a beautiful city all in all, much like London in that it's filled with various tourist attractions such as the Coliseum.

HONG KONG
Often recognised as one of the ultimately dirtiest cities and most densely populated areas of all time, arguably a business centre of the eastern world, Hong Kong is an island situated on China's south coast. Historically an ancient British colony, Hong Kong is now separate from China and often considered to be far more first-world than a large amount of the People's Republic itself.

WASHINGTON D.C.
The capital of the United States, separate from any individual U.S. state and located along the Potomac River's east coast, Washington is widely recognised as the diplomatic centre of the country's activities, with numerous historical monuments to be found here, and the head of America's government - Mr. President himself.

RIO DE JANEIRO
The second-largest city in Brazil, one of the most popular and active cities in all of South America, and the capital of the country up until 1960, Rio de Janeiro is famous primarily for a large statue of Jesus Christ overlooking the city on a high-altitude ridge, and very high crime rates around all but the most upper-class areas of the city.

HELSINKI
The capital of Finland, and on record one of the most pleasant cities to live in - amongst other places in Scandinavia. Spread across a number of bays and coasts and indeed a number of islands, transport across it may become slightly confusing to an outsider. Compared to Irkutsk, it's not quite as vicious in the winters, but still has reached record lows of down to -31C in the past couple of decades.

VATICAN CITY
A landlocked city-state consisting of a walled enclave inside the city of Rome. Separate to the actual country itself, the Vatican is widely considered to be the home and origin of Catholicism, and where the Pope himself resides... however, for the purposes of this story, something far darker indeed resides within this minute religious city-state...

The world's a big damn place - and not all of it is encompassed in these ten cities, though if you're one of Deus Mortuus' core character types, aside from a civilian, you're bound to be spending a lot of time in the others. For anywhere in the real world you fancy traveling to that isn't listed here, post a thread in this forum - but please make sure to mark where it is either in the thread title, or bolded in the body of the first post and clear to see.

REGAL NECROPOLIS
The real-world equivalent of the Regal Necropolis is London. A crumbling ancient city with bloody red skies above and deep crags in the ground, it seems to be abandoned save for the howlings and hissings of various lesser demons scurrying about. The London Eye has fallen into the Thames, Big Ben has collapsed, the House of Lords is nothing but a charred ruin: it's essentially London but in a hellish, reddened dystopia. Regal Necropolis is home to the Archdemon Mammon.

STYGIAN TUNDRA
The real-world equivalent of the Stygian Tundra is Irkutsk. A wide, open expanse filled with naught but craggy ice and great splitting glaciers, it resembles Cocytus in that the cold is not a salvation from Inferis' usual heat: but instead it is just bitter and painful, buffetting one's skin. Wandering the Tundra, a continual flat plain with just mounds of constantly-moving snow and naught to follow but the remnants of crushed skyscrapers and building rubble beneath will easily confuse a lesser mind. Many adventurers have come here before their times and perished from the sheer cold and the delirium that exploring the Tundra causes. No horizons, no landmarks, no ends in sight, and only the fading glimmer of a sun to guide you, it can be said to be a truly hopeless place. Stygian Tundra is home to the Archdemon Moloch.

FORLORN ASHLAND
The real-world equivalent of the Forlorn Ashland is Johannesburg. Much like the other alternative Inferis cities, the settlement here has been completely flattened: infact, it's said that in the arid climates, the flames of hell scorched everything, and reduced the entire desert city to ash, hence why whenever one walks amongst the Ashland, eponymously, flecks of smoky grey dust drift down in clumps and showers from great big stormy clouds of it above. Forlorn Ashland is home to the Archdemon Beelzebub.

THE GREAT UNDERCROFT
The real-world equivalent of the Great Undercroft is Rome. With a recrafted coliseum almost rising to the sky now the city's centrepiece, the Great Undercroft lies bordering the Spirelands and edging on Lucifer's territory. Home to the souls of the great warriors of lore, it holds numerous demon battles and has done timelessly for all eternity, and any who wander through find the Undercroft to be one of the most well-stocked defensive borders of demon forces, from where the majority of their close-combat troops stem. The Great Undercroft is home to the Archdemon Belial.

BLIGHTSCAPE
The real-world equivalent of the Blightscape is Barcelona. The Blightscape is a vast expanse of land with green-tinted skies and a legion of demons idly walking around in a zombie-like manner with gas masks amalgamated into their fizzling and rotting skin. Many a timeless decade ago, the Blightscape was struck by a horrific plague which destroyed all the demonic residents - it'll only disfigure those of a demonic origin who reside there for years on end, so it's tentatively safe for humans to walk through in spite of the ghastly stench of rotting flesh and sulphur in the air. The Blightscape is home to the Archdemon Asmodeus.

TARPIT ENCLAVES
The real-world equivalent of the Tarpit Enclaves is Hong Kong. Once an industrial capital of the world, all the pollution and smog seems to, in Inferis, have come to ahead, tormenting the poor souls below by reducing skyscrapers and a central business district to great bubbling puddles of scalding hot and viscous tar, from which various demons, smothered in it, emerge from to do battle. They move slow but are not to be reckoned with. The Tarpit Enclaves are home to the Archdemon Legion.

ENTROPIC CHASM
The real-world equivalent of the Entropic Chasm is Washington D.C. A great furrow has split the ground in half, right down the centre of the White House, and opened into a deep, chasm-like ravine, serving as a prison for all the lawless scum that have come into Inferis over the years. There chasm also serves as a border into the Spirelands, which the whole region edges on - and it can't be walked around or leapt over. The furrow cuts through the whole region, a great long curvature - one must descend from one end and traverse through into the middle, where they can make the climb up to the other side. Entropic Chasm is home to the Archdemon Belphegor, though in his slumber, Lucifer oversees it from the Spirelands.

DARKROOT DOMAIN
The real-world equivalent of Darkroot Domain is Rio de Janeiro. Darkroot Domain shows the power of nature in Inferis: as an accursed tropical undergrowth surrounding the city seems to have encroached upon its borders and forced its way into the city proper, creating a jungle-like labyrinth of thick trees and ivy vines around many of Rio's slums and actual buildings. Fights in the Domain are usually quick if there's any resistance at all; its native demons have a tendency to strike from above and are usually lethal, similar to real-world jungle tribes. Darkroot Domain is home to the Archdemon Ba'al.

THE BLACK SEA
The real-world equivalent of the Black Sea is Helsinki. This city in particular, originally constructed of ports, bays, coasts, islands, and peninsulas, has completely sunk into the water, buildings ruined and collapsed, and great geysers perforating the cityscape, rising higher than skyscrapers. The entire city has been reduced to a few simple islands, with great, dark, thick and murky water atop it - there's a reason that no-one ventures further out of Inferis than the Black Sea. All demons here are typically underwater-life based. The Black Sea is home to the Archdemon Leviathan.

THE SPIRELANDS
The real-world equivalent of the Spirelands is the Vatican City. An unholy city to mirror that of the real world in its place, fittingly, the Spirelands are home to the greatest killers, thieves, crime lords, serial murderers, assassins, and any who commit any grand crime to earn themselves a stay in Inferis. It holds the only fine architecture in all of the realm, as all the other buildings are ruined, but here, the architecture of the buildings around the Spirelands is even more elegant than the Vatican itself. At the epicentre of the city, and the very centre of Inferis, geographically, lies a tall, huge, black, spined, spiky, and almost organic spire, with thousands upon thousands of demons slaving away at it night and day tirelessly and restlessly. A tower. The Devil Spire. At the top, as it is perfected and finished around him, sits, upon his throne, next to the tenth and final tear this side of the barrier, the Devil himself. The Spirelands are home to the Archdemon, and Unholy Overlord of Inferis, Lucifer.
