PERSONAL DETAILS
DEMON DESCRIPTION:
As the head of Legion's Librarian demons, Diogenes, aka the Headmaster, appears similar to his cohorts though his image is drastically different. His body appears very avian though instead of an extra pair of arms he has chosen to grow wings, which drape around his body like a second cloak. Robes cover most of his body, and a hood covers over the top of his beaked head. Anklets of gold and a sash of gold and red silk weave covers his body, though as far as flashy wear is considered this is what he limits himself to. Every part of his appearance has a use; the anklets potentially can be powerful magic devices, and the sash a cloak of invisibility. Nothing is without use for the father of cynicism.
MORTAL DESCRIPTION:
For nostalgia's sake, Diogenes retains his original mortal form. A Greek man from the land of Sinope, his brown hair sits atop his head in managable curls that, while untamed, appear relatively managable atop his head. His beard is of similar makeup; brown and curled and ending just below his neckline. His skin still bears some of the scars he had in life though quite frankly looks far better now in death than he ever did while living. He still even wears the same toga he wore for the vast majority of his travels; white and draping over his visage like some senator's great robes.
PERSONALITY:
Diogenes is, and always has been, a cynic. He is in fact the father of Cynicism, the first Greek Philosopher to utter the words "I have nothing to ask but that you would remove to the other side, that you may not, by intercepting the sunshine, take from me what you cannot give." He has always looked upon humanity as hopeless, as the vastness of society as stupid. Though he knows he did some good for the world he also knows it was mostly overshadowed by how stupid the human race could be, and as such he grew to hate it. Describing Diogenes is therefore describing something that's very cliche; a cynic, nothing more. After all, he is, by all accounts, the first cynic. It seems natural that he was destined for hell for that reason alone.
When he isn't cynical (which is hardly ever), he tends to be rather quiet. He busies himself by studying books or ensuring that his master's great many scrolls, slates, and (recently) hard drives of information are kept properly organized and stored within the hallowed halls of Legion's vast library. It is when he is quiet that he thinks the most, focusing upon the most basic of tasks he exists for; the acquiring of knowledge.
It's also when he's quiet that it is best not to disturb him (unless you're an Archdemon, and even then he might very well snap at you unless you're Legion). For that's when he gets angry. And when he gets angry he might conveniently forget that you aren't invulnerable and conveniently forget that he can mutter spells under his breath, baking you in Greek fire or charring you to a cinder through the powers of lightning. In short, never get him angry. He is no longer mortal; he is above controlling his temper.
HISTORY:
Diogenes of Sinope was legendary in life as the founder of Cynic Philosophy and the creator of many of humanity's modern ideals. He was a man that was, quite frankly, fed up with society and human ways, and grew to hate them for it. In the last years of his life he chose to forsake even his Greek Gods in favor of a far more simple existence; one that focused upon the acquisition of knowledge and wealth of the mind. He so hated humanity's 'lesser ideals' that he asked that his own body be thrown over the walls for the wild animals to consume.
It was that kind of cynical desire for something greater than what was given that attracted Legion to him. Diogenes, of course, wound up in Inferis for his crimes against societal order, and was forced to wander the Tarpit Enclaves. It was there that Legion approached him and made him an offer; become Headmaster of his Librarians in exchange for unlimited knowledge. There was no hesitation in Diogenes' reply.
So began Diogenes' life as the cynical Headmaster of Legion's endless library of knowledge. Straight away, Diogenes took charge of management and took it very seriously, berating lesser demons for the simplest of deviations from the rules. He ensured that every book was organized twice-over, every slate of crafted information dusted and polished brightly. Every chance he got, he gazed over each book, learning what he could. He began to change; becoming more like a vulture than the dog he was so popularly called back in Greece. That change affected him physically. Though he retained his mortal form to some degree, his demonic appearance began to grow very bird-like. Feathers began to replace his hair, and a pair of wings grew from his back. His neck grew long and his face pointed and curved until it became a beak. All the while his true nature simply grew and grew, and his desire to remain in that library and never look upon the outside world again never changed.
It has been an estimate of 2,200 years since Legion first asked Diogenes to join him as the Headmaster of the Library. For the first time in two millennia the Dog of Sinope took a peek at the world outside of that library, and found an even greater source for his cynicism to be unleashed. He saw a world of contradictions, of stupidity; a world of greed and ignorance. Of weakness. He saw humanity for what it truly was, and he grew to hate it.
It was then that he decided he'd dust off his feathers and go frolicking amid the mortals once more. He'd enjoy taking a few carnal pleasures and mischief, perhaps torture or violence. It'd be the perfect opportunity to teach humanity a lesson; that ignorance and stupidity should not be tolerated in any race, period.

FACTION:
Diogenes' loyalties lie with the Hell Princes, though specifically only to Legion. He cares little for the others, but Legion gave him an opportunity the others lacked; the ability to seek, catalogue, and organize knowledge. Being called Legion's Lap Dog may be a nickname he hates, but it practically is so; anything Legion asks that is within Diogenes' ability to accomplish, he will do without question.
SKILLS:
-He is a philosopher, so he thinks deeply
-He has genius level intellect
-He managed to learn every recipe for Greek Yogurt there is possible
-He is an excellent magician and knows about 2,000 years worth of spellcrafting
-He is capable of flight in his demonic form, thanks to his wings
WEAKNESSES:
-He can't fistfight worth a damn
-He has a particular fondness for cheese (enough so that he'll drop what he's doing if he sees it. Sometimes he'll gorge himself on it rather gluttonously)
-He doesn't exactly understand modern society very well (Over 2,000 years cooped up with a book can do that to you)
-He hates cats. He's a dog person (naturally)
COLOURS:
Greek(Orange), Latin (Red), English (Brown), Macedonian (Olive), Egyptian (Green), Demonic (Blue)
TRIVIA:
- He occasionally squawks like a bird in the middle of sentence.
- When he doesn't squawk, he barks, or yips.
- He made Totalbiscuit, the Cynical Brit. He considers him his finest pupil
- He thinks suits are a strange sort of dress (too complex, Togas are easier)
- Though he does not approve of everything that the other Archdemons do, he does approve of Moloch's ice cream
- Dairy products are his thing
