Abilities: Actually blindingly stupid, the Rootsnake combines the features of a bipedal snake, early dinosaurs, and giant scorpions, whilst somehow being somewhere between cute and wildly stupid.

The Rootsnake begins its life cycle hatching from an egg laid in the clutch by its mother. It then, as the name suggests, makes a burrow underneath the roots of a great tree. Rootsnake burrows interconnect, creating great networks and communes of the beasts. As is to be expected, they are completely non-sentient. After a few weeks, they develop their signature "hoods", and begin to make forays into the thick brush of the Domain proper, and start hunting.

When fighting in groups of five or more, the Rootsnake can be formidable for lower-level opponents, but are mainly just an annoyance. Alone, almost anyone can take them out with a well-placed kick; they're about three feet tall, and squawk loudly. Their only real abilities are that they have tapered claws, and that stinger's about twenty times as painful as your average wasp sting, but nowhere near lethal.

- Viciously defend their burrows and kin.
- Prey to infighting.
- Rootsnake eggs are laid in burrows made in trees.
- After a Rootsnake is born, its mother and father abandon it to the roots of the burrow it was laid in.
