OVERVIEW:

– Caliburnus Albion, referred to affectionately as "Albion", could be regarded as the direct materialization of Adelaide's legendary Demon Hunter bloodline, and physical proof of her status as the sole survivor of Arthur Pendragon's legacy. Deploying the Evocation simply requires her to extend her hand outward to better facilitate the weapon's projection into reality. An array of aqua blue leylines and interlocking, runic patterns will light up beneath her feet and create a torsion in the space before her, where the sword itself will rise up so that Adelaide can withdraw the weapon by its richly decorated hilt.

From the tip of its glimmering blade to its pommel cap, Albion measures in at a total length of 124 centimetres, and weighs exactly 2.2kg. Its perfectly crafted blade is forged of reinforced electrum, a naturally occurring gold-and-silver alloy that bears trace levels of other metal elements, and produces a soft, golden radiance when exposed to light. Azure flourishes engrave both sides of the stabbing end, while the blade's fuller is etched with inscriptions in the Angelic language. The cross guard is fashioned from a durable gold alloy and painted with lavish blue dyes, then fitted with several, small ruby studs. The grip itself is cut from a chunk of lapis lazuli and engraved with more Angelic texts, and is finished off with a large, polished sapphire acting as the sword's pommel cap.

Caliburnus Albion is best recognized as a faithful reconstruction of the blessed sword that Arthur pulled from the stone in an act that established his divinely appointed right to rule Britain; its name is juxtaposed from the original Caliburn's Latin title and the oldest name of antiquity for the island of Great Britain. The Angelic characters carved into the sword manifests as a divine blessing that imparts Albion with holy properties, significantly augmenting its ability to inflict damage against foes of a demonic nature. As it is crafted from electrum, silver is a natural element in the blade's metallic composition and is loathed by a considerable number of demons.

– A standard application of light particle manipulation, or photokinesis, Photon Edge is precisely what the name implies. By concentrating her thoughts on any object in her grasp, Adelaide is able to compress and bind photon particles around it using ambient Soul Energy, wrapping said object inside a shining aura of condensed light energy. In this particular case, she is able to impart these selective energy fields to any cutting tool she holds, amplifying its strength and sharpness far beyond its default parameters, enabling it to cleanly slice through all but the hardest of substances.

This particular Evocation is typically reserved for her holy longsword, Caliburnus Albion, in order to better its effectiveness against hardier or heavily armored opponents, although it is theoretically possible to administer this power onto any sharp object within her clutches in order to achieve the same effect. Deploying a Photon Edge requires no Sigil or anything of a similar nature; the only requirement Adelaide must fulfill is that she must be holding an item capable of cutting or slashing. To this end, this Evocation cannot be applied to a blunt object, such as a stick or a baseball bat.

– There comes a point in time when Adelaide squares off against an opponent far more skilled than she is, one that is capable of parrying or blocking her every strike with expert timing. Image Phantasm exists primarily to combat such a scenario, but can also be used to serve a more diplomatic purpose. It employs photokinetic principles similar to the way her Photon Edge skill does by manipulating nearby light particles to her advantage, but instead of using Soul Energy to condense and bind photons around a held item, she cloaks the object in question with this spiritual essence, which then distorts the refraction of light-waves around the object in order to render it imperceptible to the naked eye.

Like her Photon Edge power, Adelaide will normally limit her usage of Image Phantasm for her holy blade, Albion, although the potential to apply it to other objects in her hands certainly exists. The special energy field created by this Evocation binds itself to the form of the item, masking its length, width, appearance, and just about anything else regarding its nature that can be perceived on a visual level. To an observer, she holds an invisible weapon. Opponents will be more likely to struggle against defending or evading against attacks made by Adelaide at this point, as they cannot properly discern the physical properties of whatever it is she’s holding without having to take time to study her movements and patterns, a luxury most of her foes cannot hope to afford in battle.

Despite Image Phantasm’s staggering potential to dramatically lean the tides in the lady Kingsford’s favor, it is far from a perfect ability. Its biggest strength lies in the fact that it serves to distort its shape and form to the naked eye. That being said, it also illustrates a drastic flaw in the Evocation’s function: an astute fighter can reveal the object by exposing it to an appropriate substance; running any kind of liquid over an invisible item will render the Evocation entirely redundant from that point on until it dries, as will throwing or sprinkling powder on it, or slathering it in gel. Until the intrusive substance is removed, the object’s form will be made somewhat discernible.
