A Hearty Breakfast (WIIIIIIIDE-OPEN!~)
JANUARY, A BLOODY DAY :P 17, 2012
"Hmmm... I'll be havin' the Presidential Breakfast. Extra platter of scones, alstublieft." He'd been a regular at the House of White for so long, the morning shift workers not only knew him by name, but they were used to both his slight British accent when he spoke English, as well as the bits of Dutch he tossed into his speech. Not to mention he pretty much ordered the exact same thing every morning; Presidential Breakfast, extra scones, or rather, biscuits, as they were called in the States. Really, he'd been in America long enough to know that, but he'd learned English from his father, who'd picked it up in London, and childhood habit prevailed over locale. But languages and dialects weren’t on his mind; the Rev took his seat at his usual booth, New York Times in one hand, local paper in the other. As he scanned through them for anything important, the waitress came by with a hot cup of coffee for him. Accepting the cup with a gracious smile, he took a sip, before nodding graciously to the girl. “Danku u, Debbie. Always the best at what you do.” “Haha!~ You’re too kind, Reverend. Food’ll be out in a bit!”
And no sooner had she said it than the other waiter came out of the kitchen, plates in his hand. Setting them in front of the Rev, the older man smiled as he saw his favorite meal set before him. Four eggs, two slices of sourdough toast, topped with butter and jam, a plate of bacon, four maple sausages, a bowl of grits, a grapefruit, and a dozen scones. Truly a breakfast fit for the man who led the United States, but Adrianus Smith VII was quite alright with enjoying this feast as well. Breakfast was really the most important meal of the day; sometimes, he just didn’t have time for lunch or dinner, and he only had breakfast to fall back on. If nothing else, he could use the extra protein. He started with the grapefruit, sprinkling a thin layer of sugar over the exposed inner flesh of the bisected fruit, before dipping his spoon in and placing the sweet-and-sour spoonful into his mouth, continuing along this trail of food-eating, as he stared aimlessly out the window. Hmmm… Nice day outside.

Re: A Hearty Breakfast (WIIIIIIIDE-OPEN!~)
Lisa had a day off.. sort of. Her little daily errands brought her to Washington DC which was far for a simple errand. Oh well, she could complain but it wouldn't change much. The way the world was, it could have been overseas, which in a way terrified her. She didn't want to leave the country at all. Today was too nice to worry about, anyways. Her job was relatively great in comparison to many other jobs and to say she was content.. well.. it was accurate. Lisa was pretty much set with everything she needed to do, money was good and almost everything was falling in place. Well.. all except the fact her family was full of insane men and women. Demons? Hunters? Templars? That was all a load of bologna if she'd ever heard one! She couldn't help but wonder why her whole family was full of idiots who thought Demons were real. Or was it a mental disability? There were times that she had to consider maybe SHE was the insane one, but HA! Imagine Demons existing, that was just silly!
On the sidewalk she saw a familiar face. It was- it was her father?! What? She stared long and hard, before finally speaking. "Dad?" Her voice was in disbelief. Mother said he was on some vacation... but had it been in DC?

Re: A Hearty Breakfast (WIIIIIIIDE-OPEN!~)
Ah, grapefruit... It's tangy flavour hung long on Smith's tongue as he set the empty peel aside, moving on to his next course. The eggs; four, hard-boiled. Spoon in hand, the delicious protein-bearing morsels stood not a chance. As he ate, he reflected on the important matters of life; his children. He loved his children, probably much more than most people would imagine, given his rather obvious normal personality. Ah, but sometimes... Just sometime,s he wondered if that unconditional love was perhaps unrequited; did his children, in fact, love him the same? It was a very good question, and while the answer was most likely yes, he still had to ponder it. Adrianus XIII... He never seemed very eager to go out on missions, not even with the knowledge in mind that he was doing the Lord's errands, or perhaps equally as important, carrying on the family legacy, the family business, so to speak. As for Lisa, he hadn't expected her to become a Templar, but he'd at least expected her to see the truth in what he said. It was probably just a lack of experience; she only heard the stories, and her brother and mother didn't quite help; while they never joined her in deeming her father as a madman, they also kept their opinions about the existence of demons on the down-low; Rev wasn't quite capable of doing such.
He was a very open man; an open book, some might say. He wasn't as good at keeping demons out of the subject of many conversations, and it seemed he came off as crazy to his little girl. Unsurprising, considering he WAS crazy, just for other reasons. But still, he totally wasn't crazy. At all. Finished with his eggs, he dunked a strip of bacon into his grits, using it as an edible spoon, as he pondered on. Bacon and grits; truly a match made in Heaven. Munching his food thoughtfully, he heard Lisa's voice behind him, and for a moment, wondered if it was just his imagination. Casually turning, he smiled cheerfully, sliding over, and patting next to him. "Lisa!~ Pleasant surprise seeing you! I'm sure your mother already told you about my vacation, eh? Well, a bit like a vacation, anyways, I was called in by the Vatican to DC to-" Without pause, he contemplated briefly what he'd say; not demons. Anything but demons. Even if he was staying in DC for two weeks to keep an eye on the Tear. He coughed a bit, to cover for a moment of silence. "Ah, excuse me! You're old man choking down food, eh? Haha~ Anyways, Vatican said they wanted me to fill in for Father Donnovic for a bit, he's got a terrible cold, you should see him, not a pretty sight. So, how's work been going for you, kiddo?"

She was suspicious at first. Of course she was, because usually her father would talk about his insane demon-hunting, but he didn't. Not that it wasn't a pleasant surprise, because right as rain she was pleasantly pleased, but it was strange. He had began to say something, then choked on something possibly artery clogging and waved it off like nothing. In a way it eased her, but it also irked her. Why was her father hesitating? unless he really WAS choking. Her eyes widened at the thought and she panicked for a brief second. However, she remembered he had started talking again. Right.. he was fine. Well... yeah.. kinda. Then again, her father was insane but 'fine' would do.
"Father Donnovic? Really? I never imagined him as the type to be sickly." She laughed at the thought. That man was the spitting image of health, much like her father. Her eyes lit up and she giggled. "As for work, it's been strainuous. I had some leads around here .. " Her shoulders shrugged and she let out a sigh. "I haven't seen much, seems like a goose-chase, in the end, but seeing my Dad is always worth it." She blushed faintly and looked at her lap. "But don't tell my co-workers that. They already think I'm a daddy's girl as it is."

Re: A Hearty Breakfast (WIIIIIIIDE-OPEN!~)
He could see the suspicion in his daughter's eyes, it was fairly plain to see. But it soon settled as he covered for himself with a rather legitimate alibi; the cover story was, in fact, set up by President Thomas, or the Pope, or whoever, when he was given his mission. Donovic was good but not that good. So he got paid vacation; feign illness for a bit, enjoy peace and quiet, without having to take up that dreadfully powerful augment of his- the man could punch through a brick wall, for Christ's sake!- until the Rev was done hunting down, and destroying, the Hellspawns' lair. A demon's den, as some might say.
Comically enough, the first thing she questioned was Donnovic's illness, with a laugh. She seemed to have taken the bait. He hated having to lie to his little girl, but it was the only way. Especially in public... Dutch wasn't a commonly spoken language, by any means, but there were always those who watched... "Oh, yeah, you and me both, haha~ First time I think he's ever had so much as a cold! Though when he does fall ill, it's a bit much. Hence why I'm filling in." In reality, he was probably sick as often as most men, but he very rarely showed it, much like Rev, himself. Both very devoted to their congregation, they were on par with one another when it came to feigning, not illness, but wellness with illness.
"Awww, I'm sure you can handle it, haha! Nothing's too tough for a Smith, eh?~" Ah, but hearing the next part of what she said made him choke a little bit on his bacon and grits- for real, this time. His combat-hardened face softened, and a warm smile formed, as his eyes watered up just a bit; partly the choking, partly from the fact he'd never really heard Lisa say much of that sort, not for a very long time, at the least. He grinned. "D'aaaw, come here." Pulling her a bit closer, he gave her a hug, smiling brightly behind his glasses. "Same to you, seeing you and your brother makes my world stay spinning." Catching the last thing she said, with just the slightest blush of embarrassment, he chuckled. "Family secret, promise, hahaha~ And so what if you are a daddy's girl? Heehee, I bet their dads aren't this cool!"

Re: A Hearty Breakfast (WIIIIIIIDE-OPEN!~)
Her father took things lightly with joke. That was both good and bad. Namely, it was good. After all, had it been bad, he would have been flipping out. One thing Ana had no idea how to react to: her father's insanity. Most of the time, she could just dismiss it as nothing, but there were his freak outs that could end in a terrible mess that was very hard to explain and Lisa just- didn't know how to deal with it. HE was still her father though, so she accepted him with all his colorful reactions. She loved him, even and would until the day his insanity either killed him or until she died (if that happened first).
He hugged her close, which made her face red. "Dad." She muttered under her breath. "There are people all around." Some things never change with time. For example: Lisa's 'I'm a big girl' attitude would never go away. No matter how much she loved her father, she was still grown and 25, now. She didn't mind hugging him, but not so much in public, because people always gave her pointed looks (the ones who didn't know her) And the others would smirk. She knew she'd never hear the end of it in the office, but for the Hell of it, today she hugged back. "Just this once."
After the hug was done, she smiled at him. "So are you free to hang out today or are we just passing through?"

Re: A Hearty Breakfast (WIIIIIIIDE-OPEN!~)
As he hugged his precious little daughter, blissfully unaware of the fact she wasn't quite so little anymore, he had to laugh a bit as she blushed a bright red and reminded him that they were in a public place. Ah, little Lisa, always such a big girl. "Psh, totally doesn't matter, hehehe!~ Hugs are drugs, and I should probably go to rehab for them, you know~" He grinned, letting the poor girl go, after she reluctantly agreed, and hugged back. She really didn't have to worry about embarrassment, especially at her job; if her father ever found out that any of her coworkers were picking on her for hugging her dad, they'd be in for the most terrifying scolding of their lives from a man fully capable of using his motorcycle as a baseball bat, at the ripe old age of 57.
As his blue eyes seemed to momentarily sparkle with a glint of mischief at the thought of intimidating poor CIA agents, he heard Lisa speak up again, and blinked, before glancing to her, her voice lifting him from his daze. "Neh?" It took a moment for him to really figure out what she was saying, but WHEN HE DID, he grinned, as he popped one of the scones into his mouth, quickly chewing it, before swallowing, chasing it down with a maple sausage link, and a swig of coffee. "Love this place, always has the best food... And I'm here for a good while, lieverd, of course I have time to hang out. Anywhere in mind?"

Re: A Hearty Breakfast (WIIIIIIIDE-OPEN!~)
...Her father was one of those ones that easily embarrassed you in high school. In fact it DID happen. During graduation, he had (willingly) gone on stage and threatened the principal with a chainsaw. Yep, her father had made it really awkward when before that he burst into school to give her a sandwich because the cafeteria lady was apparently poisoning the food. Why on earth he knew this and didn't just tell everyone to leave the school, she'd never know. Oh well. Stuff happened. On the bright side, at least her father cared. Some people didn't even have that much. SURE he was insane and probably should be admitted to an asylum but at least he was willing to show up unlike some fathers.
Lisa debated on what she wanted to do as her father chowed down on teh remnants of his breakfast. A finger pressed to her lips and she thought deeply. "Hm.." Where was a good place to go to now that breakfast had been devoured? "What about that mall that just opened? I heard they have lazer tag. You aren't too old to play lazer tag are you?" ...Wait.. she just doomed herself. "OR we could just watch a nice and relaxing play. I hear they're doing Phantom of the Opera at The complex?" Yeah maybe he'd go for that. She had her doubts.

Re: A Hearty Breakfast (WIIIIIIIDE-OPEN!~)
As Rev sat there, polishing off the last bits of his breakfast, he took a moment to pause and think back on Lisa's youth. He could still remember her high school years... Fond memories, those, such as when he burst into the school, riding his motorcycle through the halls to deliver her a delicious bag lunch, made by him, for her. Tasty deli-sliced chicken and ham with pepperjack cheese and a crunchy slice of lettuce, with a small cup of jello pudding for dessert. It was necessary, the lunch lady was a ritualist in disguise! She'd totally figured out that Lisa was his kid, and attempted to poison her! Not on his watch! That lunch lady may have been capable of surviving the fumes from those awful meatballs she made, but she stood not a chance against the Rugged Cross!
Then there was the time he overthrew an entire band of janitorial ritualists, all trying to assassinate Lisa whenever she walked down an empty hallway. But he wasn't having any of that, they all got shotgunned before they so much as got a single chance at hurting his little girl! Suffice to say, with thirty-nine dead janitors in a row, the school stopped hiring them! Or any new staff members at all, in fact, since nobody really wanted to apply anymore. He didn't really understand why, but hey, it all worked out! Kinda.
And of course, there was the time he interrupted her graduation to threaten the principal with a chainsaw. And... Well, to be honest, he really just didn't like the principal, no real demonic threat there. Now the class valedictorian... That was a completely different story entirely! But yeah, he really had done some crazy things... All for a good reason, though, even if his own daughter didn't believe his motivations. Eh, past was past.
He waited patiently, back in the present time, for Lisa to pick out a place to go, and as she said lazer tag, his eyes lit up, with a grin on his old face. "Lazer tag, eh? Well, I may be a bit rusty, but we could defini-" Alas, he was cut off in his excitement by Lisa quickly amending her previous statement, switching to seeing a play. He smiled and shrugged. "Ah, we can play lazer tag some other time, then, hee-hee~ If it's an opera you want to see, then an opera you will see!"

Re: A Hearty Breakfast (WIIIIIIIDE-OPEN!~)
Lisa felt bad. Her father wasn't really a play kind of person. However, the thought of him with lazer tag kind of terrified her. He had a tenancy to take things out of hand. She loved her father dearly.. but... oh the options. There was a chance of him blowing stuff up either way. At least if he was playing lazer tag he wouldn't be attacking the actors and screaming about nonsense. Her father was insane and needed help, but he was also too lovable to make him go to jail. Her eyes looked away and she debated the options. Maybe she should actually TRY the exciting stuff. Every other time it was the quiet and calm stuff that drove him crazy it seemed, so this time she would try to go the other route and maybe for once they WOULDN'T get kicked out for. Fat chance, but it was worth a try.
"You know what, lazer tag is fine. I can see a play any day." She'd regret those words. She'd regret it s hard, she could tell by the pit in er stomach. People stopped to stared at her, probably wondering why these two people were just standing around. "Do you know where it is? Or do you need to follow me?" She asked as she clicked a button on her key chain. Her horn honked twice to let it be known she unlocked her car. "Or did you want to just ride with me, da?"

Oh? Here he'd been prepared to go to a play with her, although he'd have much preferred lazer tag, and she decided to change her mind? Well, now. That was new. He chuckled to himself, wondering why she chose to switch up so suddenly. Obviously not because she was trying to at least let him be crazy in his own element, rather than embarrass her at the opera. Nope, not at all for that reason!
"Ahh, alright then. Whatever you like, Lis'." He gave a kind, fatherly smile, that sort that fathers give their kids while they have a nice ice cream cone on a hot day at the park. He and Lisa really didn't bond much, and he was determined not to ruin this time for them. Even if he DID see some truly demonic behavior, he'd try and limit himself to aggressive lazer tagging!

"- so I'll just ride with you." And with a bright smile, he gestured for her to lead the way to the car, following behind.
